Born in 1993, Zach Frank is a contemporary abstract expressionist painter from Buffalo, New York. After earning his BFA in Painting and Photography from Alfred University in 2015, he moved to Los Angeles, where he continued to refine his practice and build his reputation as a forward-thinking artist. His work is defined by a signature acrylic “dabbing” technique; thousands of layered marks that transform the surface of each canvas into a vibrant field of emotion, energy, and rhythm. What began as a spontaneous discovery in his mother’s garage in 2013 evolved into the “Problems” series, a lifelong project that documents Frank’s personal and creative growth over more than a decade. Each painting explores themes of individuality, chaos, repetition, and the pursuit of beauty in imperfection.
Frank’s paintings have reached a global audience through his powerful online presence; his videos have been viewed over two billion times, leading to collaborations with brands such as Microsoft, Sotheby’s International Realty, The Masters at Augusta National, and Candy Crush. His works have been collected in over thirty countries, with recent exhibitions including Problems 30.5 at Exhibit A Gallery in Los Angeles and Problems 31.5 at his own gallery, Zach Frank & Co., in Buffalo. These exhibitions serve as retrospectives of his twenties; a period marked by exploration, risk, and reinvention. Through both his paintings and his gallery, Frank continues to blur the lines between art, process, and storytelling. His work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and recognize that even within the repetition of life’s “problems,” there is beauty, meaning, and connection to be found.
